Imogen has applied to be on the ‘Snow Board’ for Chill Factore this morning.
Imogen is one of the most determined people I have ever met. She is dyslexic and has really struggled to learn to read, only really becoming fluent this year (she is 8) but it is not for lack of trying. She is a real force to be reckoned with, and has an opinion on everything! Being dyslexic has enabled her in other ways: she is a really organised person and a great planner. She is able to visualise things because her visual/spacial intelligence is high. She is also great at Maths. Since I had Oona (and because I am one of the most flaky, disorganised and naturally LATE people ever!) she has taken on the role of organising the nappy bag and making sure my phone, purse and keys are present along the necessary amount of nappies, wipes etc. She is always telling me off and helping me out! (It’s almost like living with my mother!)
In October last year she found the iCarly series on Amazon Prime and she really loves it. It features two girls who run a weekly web-show and soon her and Elizabeth were pretending to do a show together. From there I showed her some YouTube channels and that she could go ahead and have her own channel if that’s what she wanted. From there we set up the channel and a website and as of a couple of weeks ago it is now live. New, and in need of details adding to it as well as some more videos (and a better camera woman) but it is there!
She plans to use it to review toys (she has strong opinions on the Pink Stinks Campaign!), talk about chickens (we have five ex-bats) and teach her friends crochet and sewing through tutorials.
When I found out about Chill Factore’s search for a Junior Snow Board I thought that Imogen would be perfect for the role especially since they used the words ‘opinionated’ and the ability to ‘boss the boardroom’ 🙂
Here are the details:
Chill Factore is searching for a Snow Board – a team of four young executives who will audit the snow centre’s amazing activities to ensure they have the fun factor, putting everything at Chill Factore under the microscope and critique its offering to give other children and families the most memorable experience at the attraction.
The children selected must be between 6 and 10 years old, love snow, be opinionated and know how to have an amazing time. They will first be tasked with interviewing staff at Chill Factore for the new role of Fun Ambassador. This new position will be responsible for implementing the changes the Snow Board wish to make and the kids will be reporting back to the Chill Factore CEO, Morwenna Angove on their findings.
If you think your child would boss the boardroom, you need to make sure you are available on 18th Feb 2015, your child must be between 6-10 yrs, and you will need to consent to filming and photos for media and promotional use. Just email firstname.lastname@example.org with your child’s name age and why you think they should be chosen.
If you decide to go ahead and apply, good luck! And I’ll keep you posted on how Imogen gets on 🙂
