My Oona is a busy little person! She loves helping, even though it mostly isn’t helpful! Here she is washing up! I couldn’t resist sharing it with you! For her it is any excuse for a bit of water play and in the home environment allowing kids to play with water offers many learning opportunities: it is a step towards independence, it is sensory play, it is Maths, it’s Science…
She’s learnning about volume and capacity, things that float and sink, she’s improving her motor skills …
and she’s talking about it! She’s learning concepts such as empty and full, wet and dry, up and down, in and out…
She is pouring, squirting, splashing, playing with soft bubbles and the bristly brush, bumping together metal objects that make a clanging noise, and plastic ones that don’t…
She has similar sized containers that she can pour water from one to the other, we chatted about why we wash up and how we keep our things clean, she is developing her concentration skills…
Most of all, she’s just having fun…and at least the mess is clean mess! My little monkey!
